Jesus and the children

One day some parents brought their children to Jesus so that He would bless them. The disciples tried to stop them, thinking the Teacher had more important things to do. Jesus’ reaction surprised everyone.

Room for the little ones

Jesus was displeased and said: “Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.” (Mark 10:14). Then He took them in His arms and blessed them. For Jesus, children were not an interruption, but a priority.

A childlike faith

Jesus showed the adults that they could learn from children: simple trust, openness and the joy of receiving. Faith does not mean having all the answers, but trusting our heavenly Father the way a child trusts their parents. That is why our church rejoices in children and makes room for them in worship.

For reflection

What can you learn from a child’s faith? How can you help the children in your life come to know Jesus as a friend who loves them?

Bible verses are quoted from the King James Version.
